Lesson XI

Lesson III

 Digital content, information evaluation & licensing

    In this 3rd lesson, we have learnt different types of digital content and their comparation to other ways of storage.

    Also, there are some theorical concepts like Software and Software licenses. Some of these licenses are:

    * Copyright: paying for using a software.

    * Free software: which you can modify and share.

    * Freeware: which has copyright and cannot be changed.

    * Shareware: free of charge but may require a payment to unlock.

Afterwards, we learnt through what steps the content curation is done:

    * Search

    * Filter

    * Analyze/Create

    * Share

    Some platforms are specific for content curation, like Pinterest, Reddit, Flipboard...

    Then we focused on the importance of reference sources, reaching with them the legal aspects: intellectual property and copyrights.

    * Intellectual property: creations of the mind used in commerce. It is the set of rights that authors have over their original creations.

    * Copyright: legal system of author rights regulation that we have related to our intellectual property. It has allowed authors to protect their work.

    On the other hand, we have Creative Commons (CC), which have been used for the creation of this blog. These ones are a non-profit organization dedicated to providing free permission to the public to share and use their creative work under the terms and conditions of their choice. CC can be grouped in:

    * BY: allows copying, reproduction, distribution, modification and comercial use of the work.

    * SA: allows modifications of the work but under the same license.

    * NC: doesn't allow commercial purposes.

    * ND: doesn't allow any modification of the work.

    After knowing all this information, we had to create our own license and apply it to our blog and pictures (task "Individual exercise in class (II)"), and also using it in the task "Individual exercise in class (I)". (You can find them scrolling down in the main page).
